Petticoat Rules: 25th Anniversary Revival

The beloved musical Petticoat Rules returns to the Pink Garter Theatre for its 25th anniversary, bringing Jackson Hole’s rich history back to life on stage. Originally debuting at the Pink Garter in 2000, this spirited musical tells the story of powerful, headstrong women enduring the rugged realities of life of the West. 

Set in 1920s Jackson Hole, Petticoat Rules centers on Jackson's first all-female town council. Led by Rose Crabtree and Grace Miller, this group of determined women stand up and take reins of local government—much to the grumbling of the town’s men. As they navigate political pushback, personal rivalries, and the challenges of leadership, an unlikely romance blooms between Cissy Patterson, an East Coast socialite, and Cal Carrington, a charming Wyoming wrangler. With humor, heart, and a lively western score, Petticoat Rules honors these pioneering women who defied expectations, leading with their slogan: "Roosters crow. Hens deliver!"

This milestone revival is helmed by Andrew Munz, who sold tickets to the show’s first run as a teenager and later performed as Nat Burt in Off Square Theatre Co.'s 2009 revival. Now, he returns to direct this new staging, honoring the show’s legacy while introducing it to a new generation with a fully local cast. Adding to the excitement, Pam Drews Phillips, the show’s original composer, will accompany each performance live on piano for the very first time. 

Whether you’re a longtime fan or experiencing it for the first time, Petticoat Rules is a celebration of Jackson’s past, a testament to the power of community and togetherness, and a heck of a good time at the theatre.
